In other news, we've been testing prototypes of a removable faceplate 1" quill stem which has already passed ISO MTN standards! We've been asked to make these for a long time, and they'll be ready for production once our real world testing is completed. Like our Cigne Stems, they'll be available in Chrome, Nickel, and Noir in the 31.8mm clamp size-way.
We think this will be a great upgrade for people wanting to retro-mod bikes with newer performance components or even use our Dajia Far Bars on repurposed adventure rigs. Personally, I'm stoked for the increased ease of packing and unpacking my bike for airline travel.

I just got a Crust Romanceür that this'll be perfect for, as I already have 31.8mm bars in a threadless quill adapter setup. What convenient timing!

Quill length? Nitto already had something similar but it has a short quill.

Shims for us with traditional bars?
Call me old fashioned but why 31.8mm? I have 25.4 and 26.0 bars, no 31.8mm and have not even thought that it might ever be otherwise. I am trying to envision a 2.9 - 3.2 mm shim in place....looks like a nice stem otherwise.
any mojave cages?
Neat stem, I know a couple of people who need these but don't know it yet. I'll let them know!
How many of those vintage Rustines waterbottles and Mafac Brake Lever Hood adjusters that they have on their site would I have to promise to buy before you got some shipped over here? I've got some of their half-hoods and full hoods from you already(they are the BOMB) but I need to replace some missing or damaged cable adjusters.

There are plenty of high-rise stems already out there for 25.4mm and 26.0mm bars. There are pretty much zero for 31.8mm bars. This stem is meant to take care of the dearth of the latter.
Neil there are few if any tall open face quill stems in 25.4 and 26.0 beyond custom made. Nitto has an open face ＵI-２137 mm in height having a Velo Orange quill with height of at least 180mm in 26.0 to go along with the 31.8 ( of which I'm interested in) would be well received IMO.
Just use shims people. If you're doing anything technical enough to be worried about using a shim on your bars, you should probably be using a 31.8 bar anyway.
With the cost of bringing new products to market in today's economy, making one product that will fit all sizes of handlebar instead of 3 separate ones just makes good sense.
