The Sound of a Mafac Centerpull Not Squealing

Put some VO No-Squeal brake pads on my city bike with Mafac 2000 centerpull brakes. No more squealing:

I am pretty sure that the rim is not squealing. When the pad isn't squealing the sound it slightly different

Any update on whether they pick up crud and gall out your sidewalls?

.....

The Master asked, "What is the sound of a centerpull not squealing?"

The Student sat in silent contemplation of this question for nearly three days, and then replied, "Is it the same as one hand clapping?"

The Master replied, "No, you dolt, it's the sound of a centerpull hitting the junk parts bin and the packaging of a set of R556's being torn open. Quit monkeying with those silly old flexy things and use something modern that works right on the first try if you're not doing a restoration or period build."

The Student thought for another moment and said, "Aw, snap!"

No one here has noticed the pads picking up any dirt or any abnormal rim wear. That's not been a problem with any brand of pads I've ever used. In fact we just sold 8 sets of them to a tester who wore out his prototype pads.

You need to put a warning on the package, "Disables Pedestrian Warning feature of these brakes"

Wow!

I could use these brake shoes. Which rubber cartridge will fit into my post style Mafac 2000 shoes? I'd like to keep the originals along with the OEM wheel guides.

We don't have pads that fit in original Mafac shoes, so you need the shoe/pad combination.

Greetings,

This sounds like yet another "fad", gotta-have-it item. Isn't part of the joy of riding a bicycle (in town) the look of fear of the hapless pedestrian when he or she hears that gut wrenching sound of brakes squealing as they mistakenly get in my way?

Best regards.

Okay, smartypants, now how do you get rid of the dynamo whine?

Does anyone else feel there is something perverse and un-natural about a Mafac brake that does not squeal ?

These brake pads seem to go against God's plan. I fear for your souls - please don't tempt eternal damnation and introduce a cartridge bottom bracket that allows my Cannondale to "plane".

Repent ye ! Repent !

Isn't there a scene in the movie "Deliverance" where one of the characters is told to "squeal like a Mafac !"

It's bad enough that Shimano has made the freehub quiet, now this :P How are people supposed to know that they're getting in your way?
