VOI has just received a shipment of small parts from Taiwan, a few of which we've been out and a few others that are new. Among them are:
- Economical down tube cable stops. We actually meant to order a more expensive polished model, but so long as we have them...
- Velo Orange red replacement jockey wheels, the $4 model.
- A long drop front clamp-on cable stop. The long drop version allows for less bend in the cables when using aero-levers.
- Shims to allow clamping 1" clamp-on cable stops to a quill stem. This is a neat system that allows the stop to go above the headset.
- A rear cable stop with angle adjuster.
- And one new component, Tektro FL730 brake levers. These are a very well made flat bar lever, but with a quick release button for easier wheel removal.
As usual, bike shops can contact Tom at VOI if the're interested in stocking any of these items.

How can you tell when the jockey pulleys need replacing?
You can easily tell when jockey wheels are worn out. They feel loose and the teeth are worn down. New wheels can improve shifting.
Perhaps you could call your replacement wheels 'Shane MacGowans'--you know, for when you need a new set of teeth?

The long drop cable hanger doesn't appear to have a barrel adjuster. Aren't canti's hard enough to set up when you can easily trim the cable length?

Re those brake levers: is it rude to ask for flat bar levers of that quality (freferably with selectable long/short pull) with a band clamp? I would be obvious choice for taped commuter/albatross/priest/whatever bars.
Tektro only has adjustable leverage in the mtn bikey lever we stock. the new one we picked does not have that feature, nor are they willing to open molds for that feature on it.
They cite end user confusion in setting up the leverage ratio to the brake. I'm sure if we gave them an order for like 50,000 pairs of brakes they would do it, but Velo Orange is not really at that point. And OEM's (specialized, trek, etc) don't really care enough about this market to ask tektro to do that.
I suppose adjustable pull isn't strictly necessary (It's kind of a "tinkerer" feature. Tinkerers, however, usually don't mind buying new levers when changing brakes), but there is no quality band-clamp (for smooth bar taping) flat bar brake lever on the market. Or is there some trick to putting drop bar levers on the flats of which I am unaware?
Wait, are we talking about adjustment in the amount of cable pulled, or lever reach? I thought all you could get was reach adjustment for people with small hands.
Both models of Tektro flat bar levers have reach adjustment. And both work for Canti and caliper brakes, but only the 345AG can be converted to work with V-brakes.
The City Bike brake Levers are another good option. They are good quality and have band-type clamps that make it easy to wrap a bar.
