Black is the New Black

by Igor

Green is the New Black, but that was last week. Now black is the new black. We have samples of some components that we like to call our Noir line, for obvious reasons.

Our classic Grand Cru Long Setback Seatpost is now Noir. Still 27.2, still generous setback, and still super easy to adjust.

Next up is our Grand Cru Long Reach Brakeset. Still features our stiff CNC construction and adjustability, now it's Noir.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Grand Cru 1 1/8" Headset. Simple design and sealed cartridge bearings make for a smooth, confident ride.

Expect headsets later this Fall. Brakes and Seatpost early 2014.

So what should we Noir-ify next? Hubs? Pedals? Soap?

  3. I've always thought black chain rings made a certain amount of sense.

  4. No to black. Suspect an early part of your biz was from folks who couldn't find silver.

  5. Oh my. Long reach brakes just rose a few spots on the priority list...

  6. Fenders, definitely. I've never liked the way a silver fender announces itself against a black tire instead of blending in. There are plenty of black plastic fenders available, but if you want to go noir in metal, you're out of luck.

  9. I assume you'll also keep everything available in silver, too, but will rest easier if you'll confirm that.

  10. @Anon 3:40pm,

Everything will still be available in silver. You can rest assured.

  12. Do you have an estimate of when the black Grand Cru Long Setback Seatpost will be available for purchase? Thanks!

  14. @Terry,

  17. What model Masi is that? I have a similar looking black Masi that I'm trying to find brakes to fit.

  18. The black seatpost is great news. I had to buy a lesser one for my blacked out bike, now I can fit the one I prefer. I ride the silver one on my regular steed.

  19. I have two of your silver long setback posts. Thank God, even if they were designed with short railed Brooks saddles in mind. They work, and solve a lot of problems, irrespective of the saddle being used. There is no other seat-post commercially available that will set a rider back as far as yours. Period. The only issue has been that your posts are only available in silver - and most bikes being fitted have black posts - customers object. Please make sure that all serious bike fitters are aware that your posts are now available in black. Do yourself a service - you deserve it!

  21. Please, please 60mm fenders! The only black options for 26x2" are plastic.

  22. The Grand Cru 1" threaded sealed bearing headset. Although I'd prefer the lettering be as understated as in the silver. The whole point of going black is to be NON garish.

  23. It would be awesome if you could noirify your racks. especially the porteur.

  24. Would REALLY love these if they had stealth, black-on-black, logos and lettering; instead of white. It's something I've been looking for and not very common.

  25. Black Grand Cru Cantilever brakes would look great on a number of your lighter frame colors, such as orange and green. I just picked up a used Polyvalent frame, and would be quite tempted by black cantis...
