We've wanted to make VO designed bag loops for a couple of years now. They are so handy if you ride a saddle without built-in loops. Saddle bags are the simplest way to carry a few things on a bike without racks. But we were having trouble coming up with a design that we liked, yet was economical to manufacture. By chance we stumbled upon these stainless steel bag loops already being made in Taiwan and decided to import them. We hope to have the first shipment in a month or two.
Any comments on how compatible they are with carbon rails?

Loks like the screwdriver will go through the loop just fine.
after my experiment with viva bag loops, I'd like to see a product which has a bar that attaches to both saddle rails for bag loops to prevent rotation. The Viva loops were good for really minimalist bags, but they slipped and freely rotated for just about any load. These probably have a similar problem, since they are able to rotate freely.

ReplyDeleteThere's another one Nitto Makes, which is very elegant and durable and includes a handle for a quick-release and is totally perfect, and also very expensive.
Since this is basically pieces of punched out bent sheet metal it seems pretty easy to me to make a version with a one-piece loop bar and some clamps to attach it. voila, anti-rotation, cheap, and while not gorgeous, certainly functional.
