Another ocean shipment arrived today. It's a big job unloading one of these containers. It's surprising how much stuff fits in a 40 x 8 x 8-foot space. Eight of us needed almost an hour to get everything into the warehouse. It'll take two days or so to get everything sorted, checked, counted, put away, and entered into inventory. But you'll soon see those items that have been out-of-stock reappearing.
Among the boxes are the new green Polyvalent MK2 frames. They, and the build kits, will be available on the site tomorrow. So many folks at Interbike asked us when the Polyvalents would be available again that I'm worried we didn't order nearly enough. Get them while you can.
We also have thousands of seatposts, both Grand Cru and Uno. More hubs are here too; the first batch of those sure sold fast. There are also racks, fenders, handlebars, and a lot more stuff out there in the warehouse.
Any 34/50 cranks in there?

We do have two fabulous 48x34 cranks, though, and that's only two teeth off. The extra tiny bit of lowness on the big ring is usually very welcome.
So, did you mean one of those cranks? They're the classic box-section Grand Cru Fluted 110mm double and the slightly more modern Velo Orange compact double.
Both of those cranks are in stock now in all lengths (165, 170, 172.5, & 175)
I had been using a 38/48 for a few years and found it just wasn't enough with the hills here, so I recently put on a 53 but that's slightly too much. Lots of randos talk about 34/50, but they never seem to be obtainable.

ReplyDeleteMore Polyvalents is all fine and good, but when are you guys going to be putting out the Pass Hunter? I'm getting tired of my bike.
ReplyDeleteAnd, is there any chance you'll be putting braze-ons for lowrider racks on the forks of the Pass Hunter? I want to build an old French-style front-loaded light tourer out of it.
The chainring-guard will not work with the chain guard. I wanted that combination on my bike too.
ReplyDeleteThe Pass Hunter will have minimal braze-ons (for a VO frame); so no lowriders bosses. It's basically like a lighter Rando with canti brakes. But our new touring front rack will fit it.
When are you going to publish the sizes and measurements of the 700c Polyvalent? And do the current 650b measurements apply to the mkII frame?

ReplyDeleteWe'll publish sizing and geometry for the Polyvalent 700c when the frames are close to arrival, probably late winter.
ReplyDeleteThe Polyvalent 700c will be our next frame and available this winter or Spring. The Pass Hunter should be available next summer.
I've been waiting for quite a while for you to get the Grand Cru 50.4bcd compact double crankset back. Any update on when that might happen? Thanks.
