Grand Cru Titanium Saddles
We now have the new Grand Cru Titanium saddles in stock. They have titanium frames and titanium rails, obviously. The shape of the top is like our very popular VO Model #3 saddle, but with a cutaway skirt to save weight. What remains of the skirt skirt is laced to prevent flaring as the saddle ages. The leather is extra thick and there's an anti-stretch layer laminated onto the bottom to further increase longevity.
Weight is about 420g, length is 285mm, and width is 170mm. This is a particularly good saddle for those who like their handlebars at or above saddle height. The rails are extra long and it does have bag loops. It's available in black, brown, and honey.
We're still working on the carbon fiber rivets.
They look tremendous. Congratulations.
ReplyDeletethat stitching seems out-of-place on a weight-weenie-ish saddle. adds weight.
ReplyDeleteLighter than a Brooks B17 Ti. 30-40% less expensive. And the leather seems thicker. Looks like a winner.
ReplyDeleteWill there be a Ti version of the Model #3
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Can we expect a ti rail version of the Team Pro someday? I love the addition of honey color - shows off the natural grain of the leather. I think the stitching is awesome myself, it contributes greatly to longevity. Since when do weight weenies ride sprung leather saddles? I see no need for CF rivets though... sounds ugly.
ReplyDeleteThere's no winning with some of you people.
ReplyDeleteThe saddle is clearly meant to be weight conscious, and TO LAST.
The reference to carbon fiber rivets is a joke. Remember those?
Also- the saddle looks great. Nice Work, VO.
in the future, any possibility of a saddle with cutouts like the brooks imperial?
ReplyDeleteI think you meant to say this saddle is best for those with handlebars at or BELOW saddle height, right?
ReplyDeleteNope these are shaped wide like the b17. Best for slightly upright ergonomics. bars below saddle require a narrower saddle like the team pro or VO mod1 or mod6.

I just bought a VO Model 8 for a city bike project and I am very impressed with its quality. It even comes with the wrench (plus allen wrench and a shoe lace) to adjust the tension, unlike Brooks, who charges $12 for the cheesy stamped wrench. Great value.
ReplyDeleteTitanium and heavy leather. How oxymoronic can we get ?
ReplyDeleteCan you make this saddle with steel rails as well?
ReplyDeleteCan't afford a freakin $200 saddle!
The steel rail version is the Model 3.
ReplyDeleteAnon...
ReplyDeleteYou can't see the difference between the grand cru cover and the Model 3 cover?
Make the Grand Cru cover in steel and sell a bunch.
Yeah... $200 saddle.
This saddle is basically shaped like a model 3, but with Ti frame and rails, and the shorter tied skirt. We don't plan to make any other saddles this size. There might be a narrower Ti saddle some day, maybe based on the Model 1. We went with the wider version first since the Model 3 is our most popular saddle.
ReplyDeleteHi, Chris: Great looking saddle. Wondering how much longer the rails are compared to a typical Brooks B-17.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Rick
The rails are about 10mm longer.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for the right leather saddle for a year now. Happened to win the Grand Cru Ti at QBP in Wisconsin. This is exactly what I was looking for. And it happens to be the most comfortable shape out of the box that I've felt. We shall see how it feels after the break-in. Quality and construction are impeccable. Thanks VO!
