Sugino

We've had a hard time keeping all the Sugino cranks in stock, but a shipment arrived today and they are all available again. The only new item is the Alpina crank in 172.5mm length, which many of you asked for.

The photo on the right is of a Maitake (or "hen of the woods") mushroom that Perry spotted on the way to VO. There were plenty more so we've been enjoying wild mushroom omelets ever since.

  2. i know price consciousness isn't necessarily your thing, but any chance you'll bring in some budget single speed cranks? thanks.

  3. Be careful from where you pick those hens ... fungi is a natural filter. If the hen is harvested from a badly contaminated site, you could possibly end up consuming some nasty stuff.

  4. What's the Q Factor of the Alpina crank?

  5. Chris, any chance of you guys stocking the Sugino cranks with 46/34 rings? I recently switched to this gearing on one of my bikes and love it. I'll actually be converting another bike from a triple to a double with this gearing. Thanks.

  6. MMM! hen(chick)of the woods, yummy!I gathered Morels and chanterels this season in Ohio and both were excellent! Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Also I agree with Anonymous,be very careful where and how you pick any mushroom and ALWAYS be absolutely positive! We have a white Amoneta here called destroying angel,it's beautiful but eat it and it's death or a liver transplant!neither of which I care to try.

  7. If memory serves, the Q on my Alpina was about 155mm.

  8. The chain rings look wonderful. Do you imagine getting to a point where you can and will stock other size rings made with the same process and finish? I favor a 50 tooth ring for my large ring.

  10. Several less expensive cranks are in the works, including a single.

We will stock some cranks with 46t large rings.

The Alpina chainrings are very expensive, so I'm a little hesitant to stock them, but we probably will eventually. Or we will have VO rings that are as nice.

Thanks Patates; it's still a work in progress.

  11. The website mods look OK, but I hope you don't update the site too much, the simplicity and functionality set it apart from slick-looking sites with little content. But that yellow background, I gotta tell ya, that doesn't do anything for me.

  12. Is it true that VO is working on saddle covers, bags, and handlebar tape that imitates the look of that mushroom ?

  13. Hey - looks like someone left their bathing cap on top of the handlebar bag !

  14. The yellow doesn't render render well on my monitor. Makes the site very difficult to read.

  15. How 'bout a Staff Bikes section similar to another bike seller's site?

  16. I don't like the custard colored background. It's nauseating. Please go back to a white background. Thank you.
