E-mail Troubles

Just a short note to tell everyone that we seem to have had some technical problems with e-mails over the last week or two. Several e-mails to customers did not arrive and we didn't receive some sent to us. I don't know why this happens occasionally, but I do try to answer every single e-mail (that needs an answer) within 24 hours, except on weekends; I take weekends off. So please check your spam/bulk file and e-mail a second time if you didn't get a response.

The drawing on the right may not do much for our e-mail troubles, but it's handy when cleaning/greasing retro-friction shift levers, still the best shifters ever made.

  1. hello Chris, with the hope that this gets through . . . Retrofriction indeed are the best out there. does anyone else have problems with part number 3673, and know of a replacement or otherwise? they don't seem to be standard screws. it's a shame when the head of this screw gets damaged (on the screwdriver side - which is not very hard to do), as it prematurely ends the life of a great part. the levers (later braze-on model with the hole) are available on german ebay, by the way, for about 60EUR. thanks for a great read. -alex

  2. I've replaced that part on the braze-on version of the shifter with an allen-head screw. Your local fastener dealer should have some. It pays to make friends with a fastener dealer.

We stock the same shifters, but with the Gipiemme "spoon" levers.

  3. I personally prefer the Suntour retro friction / ratcheting shifters - the braze on version. They have a wonderful ratchet, precise tension adjustment, and a bit more cable takeup than the simplex. I love 'em!

  4. chris, do you happen to have a similar diagram for the campagnolo DT shifters you were selling a while back? it's quite a jumble of washers in the bag....
