Shop Photos

The shop is almost ready. I snapped these shots yesterday.

The weather forecast for Sunday's ride looks grim indeed, high winds, cold, and rain. We'll have warm sake and hot espresso. Yes, that lovely orange FrancisFrancis espresso machine is the newest member of our staff.

  1. Very elegant. The truth; did you buy the coffeemaker because it was orange?

  2. Neil, Is that not how you would choose an espresso machine?

  3. All in all it's best that I live in Minnesota and am unable to attend as I'd wind up with too much stuff to transport home. Best of luck with the open house and the store.

I assumed Chris had the expresso machine painted specially to match the shop.

On a positive note the weather in Minnesota may actually be pleasant to ride in this weekend! I may be able to ride in only three layers of wool. No more zero degree windchills and frozen water bottles.

  4. Chris,
my wife and a couple of the guys from the shop are coming down for the opening with a bike for you. We have also come down to buy a couple things, is that cool? or is this more of a meet and greet? the place looks awesome! Orange is my favorite color.

  5. Looks nice though it kind of has that sparse "if you have to ask you can't afford it" look.

  6. Looks nice. It reminds me a little of Jitensha Studio in Berkeley.

  7. Looks great! A hot espresso after a cold ride out from DC would be a treat. Do you have any idea what the shop hours are going to be?

  8. Congrats! Looks very classy. Are you going to be offering those tres-classy crocheted gloves online, or will I have to wait until chance takes me back to Annapolis some day?

  9. I assume it will clutter up after a while. A large brown dog named "Sprocket" sleeping in the doorway would be a nice counterpoint to the wine and expresso.

  10. A lot of folks have asked if we'll sell stuff during the open house. We will, but it looks like the internet cable might not be installed in time so credit card sales will be slow. If you bring a check it would make things easier.

The gloves and other stuff in that case are either display items or only used to build up custom frames.

The city bike frame arrived a few minutes ago and it looks just fantastic. So did the 650b wheels. I'll try to post a photo later.

  11. Note that there are no photos of "behind the screen," which is my domain. It's not pretty. Walking up-shop to visit with Francis every few hours will be a treat.

  13. Peter,

I thought about a discreet sign at the door: "Please wipe your wheels."

  15. Gosh, that's a mighty fine "boutique" you've got there...I wish you were MY local shop!

We don't have anything approaching this here in SW Florida -- and that's a bummer!

Have fun with the open house...I'll be there in spirit!

  16. Very nice shop. Great look. I love the orange Francis Francis Espresso machine.

Don't worry Neil. They are among the best affordable espresso makers. Infused with Italian whimsey but crank out decent shots.

  17. Chris, stunning! Jitensha Studio would certainly approve. I have been to the shop in Berkeley on a few occasions and admire its theme. I look forward to my first visit. The weather is fretful today with this storm, otherwise I would make the 3 hour drive and participate in the celebration. I wish your endevour great success. The espresso maker is really cool, nice color.
