That's why they were slippery. Next time use 3 coats, no more. I've had them on my city bike for over a year and find them just perfect.Velo Orangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02835615331417822722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155733621561284562006-08-16T09:07:00.000-04:002006-08-16T09:07:00.000-04:00I have shellaced cork grips for my girlfriend and ...I have shellaced cork grips for my girlfriend and she found them unrideable because sweat made them slippery (and she doesn't wear cycling gloves). I haven't tried them because she had me replace them after 2 rides, but just thought I would bring that up.song 2 the sirenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12146128778998664436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155243314334329302006-08-10T16:55:00.000-04:002006-08-10T16:55:00.000-04:00I really like the feel of the leather though, both...I really like the feel of the leather though, both elk and cowhide. Of course the shellaced tape is really classic for a French inspired bike. If we're really worried about our four-legged friends I suppose we could ride on plastic again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155236869822077602006-08-10T15:07:00.000-04:002006-08-10T15:07:00.000-04:00You know that's a good idea Neil. God knows the fewer times you have to sew these on, the better.

However, the fact of the matter is, I must say that the plain old cloth tape heavily shellacked is just about bombproof. Twice a decade you can just put some more shellac on there. The brown tape looks very much like brown leather with a few coats of clear shellac. And four-legged mammals far prefer it to boot.Dadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09016373487910801383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155218045235947152006-08-10T09:54:00.000-04:002006-08-10T09:54:00.000-04:00They are covers; I mis-wrote.They are covers; I mis-wrote.Velo Orangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02835615331417822722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155217417042691582006-08-10T09:43:00.000-04:002006-08-10T09:43:00.000-04:00Are the new "wraps" actually wraps or lace-on cove...Are the new "wraps" actually wraps or lace-on covers? I have nice leather wraps made by a harness maker, but I don't remember who I bought them from. They are thick with beveled edges. They look and feel good. I know you can't stock everything, but I would really like lace-ons made from the heavy leather like the toe clip material. I have a feeling the stitching on the elk may tear out over time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155162094890263572006-08-09T18:21:00.000-04:002006-08-09T18:21:00.000-04:00Sure C, just send an e-mail and we'll hold one for...Sure C, just send an e-mail and we'll hold one for you.Velo Orangehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02835615331417822722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24415034.post-1155161902913132222006-08-09T18:18:00.000-04:002006-08-09T18:18:00.000-04:00Anyway to reserve an Ostrich bag?
