A Few Notes

Here are a few updates on various topics.

  • We received an air shipment today, mostly re-stocking stuff that's been selling faster than expected. VO touring pedals are the one item we were completely out of that came in.
  • Every few months we review inventory for products that are overstocked. I put a few of these on the specials page. It's worth a visit.
  • We've been out of wheels for too long. Our wheel builders are almost finished and they should arrive late next week. That's the good news; the bad news is that we are still out of Raid rims and wheels.
  • How do you guys like the soft cloth bag packaging we're using for hubs, saddles, and other components? The bags cost more than boxes, but they're reusable. (I use several to organize stuff when traveling.) We also save a little on shipping using bags since they take up less space. We're considering using them for more products.
  • Cirque du Cyclisme happens this weekend. Lots of cool bikes and a very nice swap meet.

I'm starting to feel like I'm never going to get a front wheel. I remember in Feb when I thought late March was going to be a long wait! you guys have this advantage that there's basically no alliterative to your products, like if there were other wheels I liked I would have bought those months ago, but there simply isn't. ...sorry I'm just getting really frustrated.

Sorry about those rims. Here is how it works. We look at how many we sold in the last 4-6 months and add about 15%. Then we order that quantity. Next, you guys buy that many in 2 months and we run out. With small items we can air-ship more, but rims are so big that they must go by sea. And they take a few months to get made. The final issue with these particular rims is that distributors carry them and they sometimes put in monster orders.

Will new wheels mean that the polyvalent Maxi build kit will be available again?

The bags are a nice touch. Throwaway cardboard is a waste but the bag, as you say, is great for keeping things together inside a pannier.

Soft bags: I have zero use for them. Maybe you should put them in some kind of plastic bags that could be used to keep the saddle dry. Or just use a box.

I haven't ordered anything that came in a bag, but it sounds like a great idea.

Greetings,

Honestly, it was a shock to see the velvet bag your saddles ocme in. Sort of a nicety, but I don't have any use for the bags now. Do you take returns on the bags? If the bags were waterproof and fit on installed saddles?.......now, there's an idea.

I was pleasantly surprised by the soft bag that my saddle came in. I've used mine as a stuff bag (a durable one at that) when camping and my girlfriend uses hers as a tool pouch. Get creative!

I've never seen a bag like the one that my saddle came in, so I'm not sure what to do with it, honestly.

The bags are a great idea. They can be used and reused and they cause no waste like cardboard or plastic. Keep usin em!
