Porteur Rack Coupon Code

Our coupon code flash sales have proven very popular, so we'll do one every few weeks. This one is good for $40 off the VO Porteur Rack, with or without rail

If you need a front rack to haul heavy and bulky items, or just a box of donuts, this is a great deal. Here's the full description:

This is a traditional-style Porteur rack as used on the famous Parisian newspaper delivery bikes. Those Parisian delivery bikes were reputed to carry as much as 110lbs of newspapers on similar racks, but of course they had strengthened bike frames and forks, not only racks.

The VO porteur rack is made from strong stainless steel tubing and polished to a lovely shine. It won't rust like painted steel racks or fatigue and crack like aluminum racks. The quality is actually superior to that of many custom racks. In short, this is a real load-carrying rack, not an aluminum "style-rack".

The platform is about 36cm x 29cm.

The tangs are pre-drilled to fit 700c, 27", 26", and 650b bikes. There are four bosses for light attachment. There is a boss for securing your fender to the rack, no rattling. Please also note the elegant pannier/tie-down loops above the mounting tangs.

Mounting hardware is included. The Porteur rack mounts to the dropout eyelet and the brake bolt (or fork crown hole).
The coupon code is "bigload".  Click on "My Cart" (not "Checkout") on the top right of the screen to enter a coupon or a gift certificate. The sale runs from midnight Friday (1-7-11) to Midnight Sunday (1-9-11) Eastern US time.

any one that lives or works in Annapolis and gets donuts at duncan and not Carlson's can not be trusted.

As wonderful as Carlson's may be, it's inconveniently located, it's out of stock of any decent flavors by 8:30am, the service is lousy, and they're more expensive. No once can be compared to PK and his wife at the Dunkins on Old Forest Drive. You you walk in and your coffee is already on the counter because they've seen your bike pull up through the window.

Obviously, I know much to much about donuts...

Still patiently waiting for a generator hub....I'm almost to the point of getting a Son instead. Whats the latest news on the new clutch generator hub?

Second on the generator hub. I need to build a wheel for the PBP qualification brevets, and I'm going to have to make a decision about a hub really soon...

Well, as long as we're hijacking the thread, I'm still waiting for the single chain ring 50.4 BCD crankset. My Polyvalent with Alfine-11 won't be complete without it. I still need to do some wheelbuilding.

FWIW, this bike will have a SON28, coming from another bike of mine.

On-topic: I'll be ordering a Porteur rack in the morning.

Off-topic, but that's the story on that crank setup on the bike in the picture?

Dang it! Got distracted & missed out! :(

@Charlie, @Eaglerock: the new dyno hub is scheduled to be here in march, but we will be arranging a small amount to be shipped here in 2-3 weeks.

@dwainedibbly: The Single ring version of the 50.4 Grand Cru crank will be here in March as well.

@Arron C: the crank on the donut bike is a Sugino XD triple with a Sugino chainring guard on the outer position. The outer ring has no pins or ramps, and was moved to the middle position. It was the prototype for our wide range double 50.4 Grand Cru and the VO Polyvalent crank.

woo-hoo! thanks VO! can you tell me what the approx weight limit might be?

Velo Orange said...

The weight limit depends on the bike. I tried 80 pounds once and the bike handled like a bulldozer. I'm lucky the fork eyelets didn't break off.

Annette, one can NEVER know too much about donuts - one of the worlds most fascinating subjects, urp . . .

Chris,

How big was the box for 80 lbs. of donuts ?

Was there any beer in there, too ?

Now that's a party !

What are the chances pre-purchasing one of the dyno hubs that will be sent in 2-3 weeks.....?
Any ideas on weight, spoke count ( I need 36)and price? I am seriously vacillating between a Son hub now or waiting several more months for the one you are importing. I'd be happy to buy one and build it into a wheel then forward any test results. Seems like the days are getting longer so........even a blurb on the blog with photos and specs would help.

Missed this by a week! If I had only thought to browse VO and window shop earlier. Any chance there will be another coupon code for the porteur rack in the near future? I've wanted one for a while but nothing really pushed me over the edge to buy just yet.
Grr!
