Where are the Cigarettes? Gitanes? Gauloises? I see the wine, I see the Opinel knife, I see the bikes. But without the cigatettes, it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi.

Greetings,

I will not be able to believe future information coming from Velo Orange. You said you were located somewhere in Maryland. Obviously, you're in Paris. I was just getting over the stock market fiasco. Now this.

Best regards.

And the bidon vase.

the porteur racks - do they require an upper eyelet for the fork, or is there another way to mount them?

Velo Orange said...

The rack mounts to the dropout eyelets and the brake bolt (or fork crown hole).

With a couple presta valve nuts the porteur rack can fit on forks with only one set of eyelets in the rear.

OK, so how much for the ones without rails?

Velo Orange said...

The racks without rails will be $150. But it looks like the rest of the production run missed the last ship and so won't arrive for a month or so.

the fire extinguisher (extincteur) is not period correct!

Bike rack is "porte-bagages."

you need a mystery woman in shades. otherwise, very nice.

the snails must be off to the side with the cigarettes (in the je ne sais quoi box). I think I see John Paul Sarte outside the window. and yes, Paris is the capital of Maryland, haven't you seen their flag?

The Porteur rack is very nice, but please tell us where you found the striped sailor shirts????

Erich Z said...

so, if using the rear dropout eyelet on the fork, you would use the nuts as spacers between the rack tangs and the eyelet?

i just love Velo's style. When I cycle tour to your store from Baltimore, I will have to time my arrival to coincide with lunch time.

I love the photo. It looks like what I might expect on the set of a Rene Clair or Jean Renoir film.

On something unrelated: I saw a pair of the White Industries city pedal. Its body is a near-knockoff of the Lyotard Berthet pedal. And it has sealed bearings. I'm sure the quality is great (I have an eccentric Eno hub on one of my bikes.) but I don't want to spend $200 for a pair. Given what you've done with your pedals, I would hope that you could make a modernized version of the Berthet, with an integral platform/body, Chromoly spindle (The ones on the Berthets were some cheaper steel; I broke a couple.)and, of course, sealed bearings.

Dites "oui," s'il vous plait!

Descartes, pshaw — I'll take Voltaire any day of the week! ;)

It might be time to retire my Blackburn front rack. Any chance of a higher quality photo?
