Performance Sam

Sam, budding bike racer and VO order packer extraordinaire is going back to college. In honor of Sam's last day I'm linking to the video below, partly because I suspect that the guy behind those glasses may actually be him.

Update: Sam just came into the office and said, "That video is so TRUE!"

Oh, yeah, it's him, but he grew and dyed his hair for it...

Sam's last day is hitting me hard, as this is the first employee of ours who is leaving; that's a milestone.

Proper roadies will note that MC SpandX has a triple crankset and SPD pedals, but yeah, it is a funny video.

Sam has humbly regaled us with stories of top 5 finishes at local races. He's the young guy in yellow that beats all those carbon fibre wonderbikers, and done it with a lugged steel frame on occasion.

Sam has an epic road trip planned for next week- He's driving out to Montana. Do any of our contributors have suggestions of great rides (road or mountain) in Iowa, Indiana, etc for him? Something to break up the monotony of cornfields and tandem tractor trailers.

Five grand for a bike isn't absurd....except when it's rocking Shimano 105!

If he's got the time, I highly recommend NOT taking the interstate. Just be aware that the towns you'll go through may close up a bit earlier than normal, don't assume you can buy gas at 2am.

I've heard great things about the Maah Daah Hey trail, near the Badlands.

That is hilarious. I'm forwarding this to my fixie-fad teenage son and see what reaction I get.

Very funny (and creative)!
You Tube really has changed a lot of things about 'stardom.'

Sam, look into information about the Lincoln Highway (US 30 most places) more history than US66 but not as good a sound track. And try to visit the Crazy Horse monument under construction near Mt Rushmore. An unbelievable tale.

"Proper rodies" as defined by "proper rodies." ;-)

That's the point, the video is making fun of roadies too.
